Whether you are an employee or a leader, you have control over how you act within a team and how you think and act in a people-oriented way.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What we mean by competencies and skills in our 21st Century Skill Model, you can <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.leaders21.com\/en\/blog\/21st-century-skills\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">read here<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">People Orientation &#8211; because people matter<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s 2022, of course the focus is on people.&#8221; You may wonder why we defined People Orientation as one of the seven core competencies when it&#8217;s so obvious. That&#8217;s because there&#8217;s <strong>another component in the professional context: Task Orientation<\/strong>. As the name suggests, Task Orientation focuses on tasks &#8211; not people. But if you are a people-oriented person, your attention is increasingly focused on your fellow human beings.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In companies that strongly focus on People Orientation, everything is <strong>about<\/strong> <strong>the satisfaction and well-being of the people involved<\/strong>. The even more essential aspect, however, is to transform every individual into valued partners of the company that play their part in the big picture. This is usually done <strong>by developing meaningful relationships and creating a productive work environment<\/strong>. Now, the question that arises is how to do this. With our three skills, of course: &#8220;delegate&#8221;, &#8220;build teams&#8221; and &#8220;be a coach and mentor&#8221;.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">3 skills to strengthen your People Orientation<\/span><\/h3>\n<h4><strong>&#8220;be a coach and mentor&#8221;<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>With the skill &#8220;be a coach and mentor&#8221;, you turn your back on the classic managerial image and <strong>focus more on people, their strengths and needs<\/strong>. You exemplify an open feedback culture, are appreciative, respectful and show trust in your fellow human beings &#8211; <strong>this is exactly what makes you a role model for others<\/strong>, especially as a leader. With your interest in the further development of the team, your cooperation and culture will not only improve continuously, but also sustainably.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>\u00a0&#8220;build teams&#8221;<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Not every random bunch of people in a company is automatically a team and pulls together to achieve the company&#8217;s goals. Therefore, it\u2019s necessary <strong>to form a real team out of the individuals and to continuously develop and strengthen it<\/strong>. Teams need diversity but also a shared ability to recognize what needs to be done to improve.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><strong>&#8220;delegate&#8221;<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Development also means recognizing which tasks and activities correspond to everyone\u2019s respective strengths while, at the same time, accepting the challenge of continuous change on a professional and personal level. <strong>If strengths, talents, potentials but also weaknesses are recognized and correctly assessed, tasks will be ideally distributed in the team, i.e. delegated<\/strong>.
